James Edward Vickers, age 86, of Ambrose, GA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 11th, 2026, at his home. He was born on October 21st, 1939, the son of the late Howell Vickers and Louise Vickers.
His survivors include: his beloved wife of 65 years, Judy Vickers of Wray, GA; two daughters, Donna (Vance) Rogers of Wray, GA and Luanne (Oscar Collins) Boggan of Valdosta, GA; five grandchildren: Autumn (Justin) Riley, Courtney (Andrew Spivey) Rogers, Clay (Sara) Rogers, Rachel Hagen, and Daniel Boggan; seven great grandchildren: Zain Riley, Tucker Riley, Levi Sanders, Gabe Hagen, Bri Hagen, Theoden Rogers, and Evie Rogers; one brother, Earl Vickers; along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: father, Howell Vickers; mother, Louise Vickers; one son, Tommy Vickers; one brother, Jearrell Vickers; and one sister, Clara Faye Bender.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 13th, 2026, at Sims Funeral Home in Douglas, GA, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 14th, 2026, at New Hope Baptist Church in Ambrose, GA with Rev. George Carroll Paulk and Bro. Buddy Jordan officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will include: Braiden Spivey, Zain Riley, Justin Riley, Clay Rogers, Jamie Vickers, and Daniel Boggan.
