Officers from the Broxton Police Department and the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 21-year-old on illegal drug charges after officers found a quantity of suspected methamphetamine inside the vehicle.
According to an incident report from the sheriff’s office, around 10 p.m. on June 8, 2026, a Broxton police officer stopped a 2006 Lincoln Town Car that was not maintaining its lane and nearly struck two other vehicles head-on. As the Broxton officer made the stop, a deputy showed up as well. The driver was identified as Lakia Tanteana Nevaeh Johnson, 21, of Douglas. Micah Samuel Powers, 29, of Douglas, was a passenger in the vehicle as well.
The report says that one of the officers saw both Powers and Johnson leaning over in the vehicle as though they were attempting to hide something.
During the stop, the report says that Powers had a cigarette pack and refused to hand it over. Johnson, meanwhile, stated that she had not been drinking and had just gotten off work. She was on her way to drop off Powers, the report says.
Johnson gave consent to search the Town Car and an officer found a white bottle in the passenger area. The bottle contained suspected methamphetamine. She also admitted that she had marijuana and produced a quantity that she had in her groin area, the report says.
Johnson was arrested and charged with possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance. She was booked into the Coffee County and later released on a $5,500 property bond. Powers was not charged with any violations and he was released at the scene.
