A Douglas teacher and a local artist have teamed up to create a charming new children’s book that celebrates friendship, courage, and finding family in unexpected places.
Tabitha, Other Dog, and Duck: The Lost and Found Friends, written by Teresa LeBrocq and illustrated by Douglas artist Dylan Ross, is a heartwarming picture book for children ages 4–7. The story follows three unique characters who come together, face their fears, and discover that sometimes family isn’t about where you come from — it’s about who you find along the way.
LeBrocq has been teaching in the county for 13 years and says that the story grew from her love of reading aloud to her students. “I knew I wanted to write a story about friendship and helping others,” she said.
The book’s illustrations were created by Ross, a well-known local artist whose playful and expressive style brings the characters to life. Together, the pair combined storytelling and art to create a book meant to be enjoyed by children, families, and classrooms alike.
LeBrocq will be signing copies of the book at The Wings and Things Festival and Fly-In on March 21st, giving local families the opportunity to meet the author and celebrate the release in person.
Tabitha, Other Dog, and Duck: The Lost and Found Friends is available now on Amazon and is ideal for bedtime reading or sharing a cozy story about friendship and chosen family. Both the author and illustrator can be found on Facebook for updates and book-related events
