An official with the City of Pearson was arrested over the weekend and charged with DUI and other traffic related offenses, according to an incident report from the Georgia State Patrol.
On Saturday, January 17, 2026, just after 5:30 p.m., a trooper with the Georgia State Patrol initiated a vehicle stop on a gray 2018 Chevrolet Cruz driven by Ladowell Shermae Williams, 27, of Pearson. Williams is the municipal court clerk for the City of Pearson.
The trooper stopped the car because of window tint. When he approached the car, he could smell marijuana in the vehicle. According to the report, Williams admitted that she had smoked marijuana earlier in the day and was about to smoke again when the trooper stopped her.
The report says that Williams did not pass field sobriety tests. The trooper also found a small amount of suspected marijuana in the car. Williams was arrested and charged with DUI/Drugs/Less Safe, seatbelt violation, and window tint violation. The car was released to her father, Tony Williams. She was booked into the Atkinson County Jail and later released.
Williams still has aggravated assault and cruelty to children charges pending from a 2024 incident in which she allegedly fired a gun into a vehicle in which her child and the father of her child were occupants. She was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, cruelty to children, possession of a firearm during a crime, and discharging a gun near a public roadway.
