Commissioners Wrap Meeting in Record Time

The Coffee County Commissioners voted unanimously Monday, June 16, to approve the donation of a 2010 Chevrolet ambulance from Coffee Regional Medical Center EMS to the Coffee County Sheriff's Office. According to Sheriff Doyle Wooten, the newly-acquired vehicle will be refurbished for utilization with the county's crime scene unit. It took just ten minutes for the Coffee County Board of Commissioners to breeze through their regular meeting on Monday, June 16, unanimously approving all items on the listed agenda.

Here are the highlights:

• Approved a contract with Traylor Business Services to verify personal property for tax assessments. The county will pay $5,000 for the service, with the City of Douglas and the Coffee County Board of Education supplying $5,000 each.

• Approved the surplus sale of two county fire trucks which had been determined to be valued less than the potential costs of repairs.

• Approved to accept the donation of a 2010 Chevrolet ambulance from Coffee Regional Medical Center EMS to the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office.

The next regular meeting of the commissioners is slated for Monday, July 7, 2014 at 9:30a.m.
