Monday marked the end of an era for one of Douglas’ oldest family-owned restaurants.
The Catfish House was opened by the Peterson family in 1977 and has stood the test of time as one of the area’s most beloved eateries.
Catfish House owners took to social media Monday afternoon to announcement their retirement:
“It’s official. As of 11 a.m. today, we are no longer the face of the Catfish House. We are, however, leaving you in very capable hands. The new owners, Garrett and Kacey Spivey, would like for everyone to come by and meet them. They are excited about serving you and want everyone to know it is business as usual at the Catfish House. My family and I would like to say “THANK YOU” to all our wonderful customers who have made the last 40 years both an adventure and a pleasure. I am broken hearted as I write this just thinking how much I will miss each and every one of you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your lives with us. For all the food, fellowship and fun, I will forever be grateful! Also, a great big “THANK YOU” to my employees, without whom we could not have done this. You guys are the best of the best. No one can hold a candle to you! Just know that we love you all, customers and employees alike, and there’s a few extra rockers on our porch so you can come by and visit anytime! We will truly miss you all and always cherish the memories and friendships we have made along the way. Thank you for letting us be a part of your families and for loving our family in return! – Wayne, Beverly, Kendra and Justin.”
The staff of Douglas Now wishes the best for the former and new owners of the Catfish House in their future endeavors. Thanks for the great food, fellowship, and memories over the years!
