An armed robbery suspect from Douglas has been shot eight times in Camden County while allegedly attempting another armed robbery. He is hospitalized in critical condition.

According to the Douglas Police Department, on Wednesday, April 28, 2023, officers responded to an armed robbery call in the parking lot of 831 South Peterson Avenue. The following day, officers reviewed video footage from several businesses near the location and identified the suspect as Qwinntavus Jordan. Investigators took several warrants on Jordan, including armed robbery, two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes.

Jordan apparently fled into Florida where he continued his crime spree, according to Flagler County officials. On Friday, April 28, 2023 at approximately 3:30 a.m., Flagler County deputies responded to a Circle K store in Palm Coast in reference to a robbery. An employee said that a man entered the store and demanded all of the money in the register. He mentioned having a gun but never showed it. The suspect, identified as Jordan, left with $90 and a few items.

Investigators determined that Jordan was on I-95 heading north. Officers saw his vehicle in St. Johns County and pursued him through St. Johns County, Duval County, and Nassau County. Jordan eventually crossed into Georgia where the Kingsland Police Department picked up the chase. They successfully deployed a Stop Stick on I-95 which brought Jordan’s vehicle to a halt. However, he jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot.

Jordan went to a nearby convenience store, showed a gun, and demanded the clerk’s keys. Jordan took the clerk’s vehicle but crashed it through the front of the convenience store. He then jumped out of the vehicle and chased the clerk and a customer around the store. According to a Flagler County press release, “a struggle ensued.” By this time, the clerk had a weapon and shot Jordan eight times. He was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for treatment. He remains in critical condition.

The investigation is ongoing. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, Douglas Police Department, Kingsland Police Department, and other agencies are involved in one way or another.

Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly made a statement after Jordan was caught: “I commend our Real Time Crime Center team for quickly developing suspect information and his vehicle and thank all the agencies that assisted in apprehending this armed and dangerous fugitive. I also commend the Georgia store clerk that put a swift end to this dirtbag’s crime spree. If he survives his injuries, he should spend a long time in prison.”

Press releases from the Douglas Police Department and the Flagler County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Office contributed to this report.
