The Satilla Regional Library System hosted special guests Sergeant Tim Allmond of the Douglas Police Department and McGruff the Crime Dog at the Douglas-Coffee County Public Library last week during story and craft time.

Sgt. Allmond and McGruff took photographs with the children and Sgt. Allmond talked about what McGruff does to prevent crime. Sgt. Allmond was our guest reader and read the story I’m Going to Be A Police Officer by Edith Kunherdt.  He talked about what police officers do and what he has done as one. Sgt. Allmond  also explained how important his badge is for a police officer and its purpose. He had time for questions and  gave each child their own badge number.

The Douglas-Coffee County Public Library holds its story and craft program every Monday at 3:30 p.m.  Their phone number is (912) 384-4667, and they are open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m.; Friday from 11 a.m.- 4 p.m.; and Saturday from 12 – 3 p.m.

For more information on upcoming youth programs at Satilla Regional Library, please call Julie Macomber, Children’s and Young Adult Librarian, at (912)384-4667 ext. You can also visit us online at our website, www.srlsys.org.
