John Robert Mattox, age 68, of Douglas, GA passed away on Friday, January 13, 2017, at his residence following a brief illness. Mr. Mattox was born on January 27, 1948, in Savannah, GA to the late Reuben Mattox and Doris Shauck Mattox.

Survivors include: his wife, Jerris Mills Mattox of Douglas, GA; two sons, Michael Mattox of Savannah, GA and Vince Cothern of Nicholls, GA; three grandchildren, Devin Mattox of Savannah, GA, Aaron (Allie) Cothern, Sr. of Douglas, GA, and Lindsey (T.L.) Minis of Claxton, GA; four great-grandchildren, Aaron Cothern, Jr., Hayden Morris, Easton Minis, and Allie Minis; two sisters, Liz (Michael) Walton of Orange Park, FL and Lee Cansield of Orange Park, FL; uncle, Robert Mattox of Barnwell, SC; mother-in-law, Iris Mills of Nicholls, GA; two nephews; and several cousins.

The family will receive friends Sunday, January 15, 2017 from 1:00 to 2:45 p.m at Sims Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Fussell officiating. Interment will follow at Roberts Cemetery.

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
