James David “Papa David” Johns, age 67, of Douglas, GA passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, in Brooksville, FL following a brief illness. Mr. Johns was born on March 30, 1949, in Douglas, GA to the late Albert Lee Johns and Hazel Chaney Johns.
Survivors include: his four daughters, Donna Sue Carter of Alma, GA, Peggy Davis of Douglas, GA, Wanda Davis of Douglas, GA, and Brenda Smith of Douglas, GA; two sons, Junior Reliford of Douglas, GA and Kenneth Reliford of Douglas, GA; two sisters, Frances Phinazee of Douglas, GA and Linda Grantham of Douglas, GA; three brothers, Charles Johns of Millwood, GA, Melvin Johns of Axson, GA, and Ernest Johns of Douglas, GA; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne Richardson Johns and sister, Joanne Hilliard.
The family will receive friends Saturday, February 4, 2017 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m at Sims Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Stone and Bro. Johnny Wayne Jowers officiating. Interment will follow at Chatterton Church Cemetery.
