John Henry Lee Whitten, age 86, of Douglas, GA passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2018, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Whitten was born on July 26, 1931, in Bibb County, GA the son of the late John Harrison Whitten and Bessie Tant Whitten.

Mr. Whitten was preceded in death by: a step-daughter, Patricia Metts.

He was a retired yarn applicator with Blanch Cotton Mill and was a member of Trinity Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Mary Tarrant Whitten of Douglas, GA; brother, James Whitten of Aiken, SC; step-daughter, Shirley H. Carver of Douglas, GA; step-grandchildren: Daniel Highsmith, Brandon Highsmith, Raegan Newell, Michael Metts and David Metts; 13 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Sims Funeral Home Chapel where Rev. Floyd Musgrove officiated. Interment followed at Hebron Church Cemetery.
Sims Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
