J.H. Smith, age 81, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2018, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Smith was born on June 27, 1937, in Coffee County, Georgia the son of the late Mack Hinnon Smith and Daisy Mae Rowell Smith.

He was a self-employed roofer and a member of Living Waters Family Worship.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by: a son, Dexter Hinnon Smith; a brother, Fred Smith; great-grandson, Daniel James Kennedy; and sisters: Vader Foskey, Ruby Thompson, Vera Smith and Eva Heard.

Survivors include: his wife, Lurlyne Merritt Smith of Douglas, GA; daughters: Karen Smith of Nicholls, GA., Sabrina Rowell of Douglas, GA., and Michelle Smith of Douglas, GA.; sons: Carroll Smith and wife Melissa of Broxton, GA., Rodney Smith and wife Darlene of Douglas, GA and Julian Smith of Douglas, GA; twenty grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Living Waters Family Worship where Rev. Jackie Smith, Rev. Hubert Stanley and Rev. Darrell Smith officiated. Interment followed at Salem Church Cemetery.

Sims Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
