Margaret Tanner Day, age 68, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2018, at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Day was born on May 13, 1950, in Douglas, Georgia the daughter of the late Harvey Tanner and Maggie Brower Tanner.
She was a homemaker and worked as a secretary for the First Baptist Church for thirteen years. Mrs. Day was also a member of the First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Day was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Hayden “Joe” Day.
Survivors include: daughter, Laura Day Busby and husband Steve of Carrier Mills, IL; sons: Andrew Hayden Day and wife Rianna of Merritt Island, FL., Jonathan Harvey Day and wife Lindsay of Douglas, GA., and Jonathan Kyle Shatto of Cleveland, GA; grandchildren: Alexis Nicole Johnson of Cumming, GA., Elena Grace Day of Merritt Island, FL., Clara Drew Day of Merritt Island, FL., Samuel Hayden Day of Merritt Island, FL., Adelaide Elise Day of Douglas, Ga., and Jake Alexander Day of Douglas, GA.; sister, Janet Harrell of Bainbridge, GA; brother, Dr. James Tanner of Big Canoe, GA.
Funeral Services were held on Thursday, August 16, 2018, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church where Rev. Shep Johnson officiated. Interment followed at Douglas City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Richard Tanner, Mike Harrell, Todd Johnson, David Tanner, Mark Harrell and Tommy Harrell. Honorary pallbearers were Florance Marshall Sunday School Class, Dear friends “Same Sweet Girls”, Betty Lynn Pearce and Liz Flanagan.
Sims Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
