Mrs. Leslie Louise Lawson Newkirk, age 59 of Douglas, passed away Thursday morning, December 20, 2018 at Coffee Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Mrs. Newkirk was born January 22, 1959 to the late John Lawson and the late Elaine Kendall Lawson. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Lawson.
Mrs. Newkirk, a native of Albany, was a homemaker. She attended St. John’s Baptist Church.
Survivors include: Husband Riley Newkirk, Jr. of Douglas; sons Matthew Newkirk of Macon and John Lawson of Albany; daughter Mandy Newkirk of Douglas; sister Nancy Van Landingham of Tampa, Fla.; grandchildren Isaiah Ellis and Rhylee Newkirk, both of Douglas; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
The memorial service was Sunday afternoon, December 23, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home. The inurnment will follow at a later date.
Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
