Rodney McElveen, formerly the Assistant Director for the Henry County Library system, has been named the new director of the Satilla Regional Library System.

Rodney obtained his Master of Science, Library and Information Science from Florida State University. He has over 19 years of library experience consisting of public, community college, and university libraries, with 10 of those years in professional public library experience.

He brings energy, enthusiasm, and a desire to see Satilla Regional Library grow in order to better serve the citizens of Coffee and Atkinson counties well into the future. Rodney states, “My leadership style is very supportive and encouraging, while enforcing the library’s policies and procedures. I believe in bringing out the best from everyone I work with.”

His first day on the job was May 1 and he encourages everyone to stop by the library as he is interested in getting to know his new neighbors. He will be spending the bulk of his time at the Douglas branch as it is the headquarters; however, he will be spending time at all the other branch locations which include Ambrose, Broxton, Nicholls, Pearson, and Willacoochee.

For information regarding hours of operation, services offered, scheduled events, etc., visit http://srlsys.org/ or call the Douglas branch at 912-384-4667.
