Ms. Sherry Gray Hanes, age 63 of Douglas, passed away Thursday morning, July 18, 2019 at Hospice Satilla in Waycross following an extended illness. Ms. Hanes was born August 24, 1955 to the late James P. Gray and Sara May Albritton Gray Hinkle.

Ms. Hanes, a native of Fort Myers, Fla., had lived in Douglas for a few years. She was a school bus driver for the Coffee County School System and the Hendry School System in Forida. She was also employed by West Ward Church of God. She was a member of West Ward Church of God.

Survivors include: Sons Charles David Hanes and William Allen Hanes, both of Irwinton; daughter Stacia H. Greer of Waycross; mother Sara Hinkle of La Belle, Fla.; sister Karen Howard of La Belle, Fla.; brother Timmy Howard of La Belle, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, Cody Hanes, Clay Hanes, Brooke Hanes, all of Tampa, Fla., Noah Hanes, Cassie Squires, Kammie Squires, all of Bloomingdale, Bryce Greer, Abby Greer, Lexy Greer and Tyler Greer, all of Waycross; niece Sara English of La Belle, Fla.; nephews David English and Derreck Howard, both of La Belle, Fla. 

The memorial service will be Saturday afternoon, July 27, 2019, at 2:00 P.M. at West Ward Church of God with Rev. Britt Peavy and Rev. Jerry Greer officiating.. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Lydia Project in Augusta or Hospice Satilla 811 Beacon Street Waycross, Ga. 31501

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
