Ms. Sherry Jacobs McSwain, age 70 of Douglas, passed away late Wednesday night, July 24, 2019 at her residence following a short illness. Mrs. McSwain was born September 12, 1948 to the late John Jacobs and the late Betty Cox Jacobs. She was also preceded in death by her husband, C. F. McSwain, Jr.

Survivors include: Daughters, Vicky Calhoun and husband Steve of Lynchburg, Va., Cheryl Stratton and husband Adam of Savannah, and Leigh Cato and husband Adam of Douglas; son Patrick McSwain of Douglas; sisters Rhonda Hanson of Byron and Lisa (Melissa) Jacobs of Gordon; brothers Johnny Jacobs and wife Cindy of Byron and Mark Jacobs of Byron; sister-in law Diane Geisz and husband Paul of St. Petersburg, Fla.; granddaughters Alexis Cato of Athens, Logan Hartley and husband of Taylor of Tennille, and Skyler Calhoun of Lynchburg, Va.; grandson Micah Stratton of Savannah; honorary son Mike Grantham of Douglas; special niece Marisa Ivey and husband Matt of Columbus.

The memorial service will be Saturday afternoon, July 27, 2019 at 3:00 P.M. at Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home with Rev. Leroy Spivey and Rev. Gregory and Jackie Pope officiating.

The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon, July 27, 2019 from 2:00 P.M. until the funeral hour at Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers that donations be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the local Humane Society.

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
