Shannon Bookout, age 52, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Friday December 4, 2020 at South Georgia Medical Center, Valdosta, Georgia. Mrs. Bookout was born on November 22, 1968 in Coffee County, Georgia the daughter of Sharon Lynn Cooper Barrs and the late Jerry Wayne Barrs.

 

Mrs. Bookout was a homemaker and was a member of West Green Baptist Church, West Green, Georgia. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, James & Myrtice Cooper and Fred & Beadie Barrs.

 

Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Elbert Dwayne Bookout of Douglas, GA; daughter, Breanna Hope Flanagan (Kameron) of Douglas, GA; son, Andrew James Bookout of Douglas, GA; granddaughter, Kambree Maelynn Flanagan of Douglas, GA; mother, Sharon Taft (Waylon) of West Green, GA; sister, Jerri Wynett Barrs (Steve) of Broxton, GA; brother, Mike Lee of Valdosta, GA; niece, Shanlee Denise Batten (Ray) of Broxton; nephew, James Hunter Taylor; great niece, Natalee Brooke Dedmond.

 

Graveside services will be held on Monday December 7, 2020 at 2:00pm at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Donnie Kirkland officiating. Pallbearers will be Cody Phillips, Colby Phillips, James Hunter Taylor, Austin Taft, Dalton Kirkland, Levi Powell, James Allen Corbitt and Richard Corbitt.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sims Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Due to COVID-19, Sims Funeral Home Inc. will require all guests and attendees to wear appropriate medical grade face-masks and maintain social distancing at all times while visiting our facility, and highly encouraged at our services outside of our facility.  Masks are not provided.
