Jacquelyn Quinette Batten, 75 years old, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022, after short illness.
She is survived by her son, Jamey Stodghill, his wife, Heather, and stepson, Lamar Stodghill. She has six grandchildren, Layne, Dani, Eli, Maddie Rae Stodghill, Matthew Stodghill, and Sonja Stodghill Horton. She also has four great-grandchildren.
Ms. Batten was preceded in death by her parents, Quincey and Otholene Lee Batten, her sisters, Sammie Jo and Janice Batten, and her husband, Marshal “Butch” Sears.
Born on May 19,1947, Ms. Batten, best known as Jackie or Mema Jackie, was a retired paraprofessional teacher at Westside Elementary for students with exceptional needs. She was a retired bus driver with the Coffee County School System and a hairdresser and owner of Guys and Dolls Hair Salon in Douglas, Ga.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to brag about how smart and beautiful her grandchildren were to her. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and coloring. She created the best memories with friends and family and was a joy to be around.
Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements with visitation and viewing on Wednesday, October 19, from 6 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 20, in Sims Chapel at 11 am, with a graveside service to follow at Bethany Holiness Cemetery in Douglas, Georgia.
