Mr. Lavern Wildes, age 85 of Nicholls, GA passed away Sunday morning, April 9, 2023 at his residence following a brief illness. Mr. Wildes was born May 26, 1937 to the late Arnold B. Wildes and the late Daisy Belle Edenfield Wildes. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers: D. L. Wildes and Kenneth Wildes. 

 

 

Mr. Wildes, a native of Jeff Davis County, was retired from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office after 10 years of service. He was also a veteran of the United States Coast Guard. Mr. Wildes was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. 

 

 

Survivors include: 

 

 

His wife: Henry Etta Grantham Wildes of Nicholls, GA 

 

 

1 Son: John Scott Wildes of Waynesboro, GA 

 

 

1 Daughter: Melanie W. Cox and husband Steve of Bloomingdale, GA 

 

 

1 Step-Son: Duane Randall Carr and wife Imogene of Nicholls, GA 

 

 

1 Step-Daughter: Lillian Delane Carr Deaton and husband Tim of Broadway, VA 

 

 

1 Brother: Rodger Wildes of Douglas, GA 

 

 

3 Sisters: Merle Thomas of Rossville, GA 

Joyce Miles of Flintstone, GA 

Margie Seckinger of Springfield, GA 

 

 

4 Granddaughters and 2 Grandsons 

 

 

Several Great Grandchildren 

 

 

Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends 

 

 

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, April 11, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 P. M. at Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home. 

 

 

The funeral service will be held Wednesday afternoon, April 12, 2023 at 1:30 PM at Pine Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Stone and Rev. Stan Clough officiating. Mr. Wildes will lie in state from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM at the church. The interment will follow in Grantham Cemetery. 

 

 

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
