The Douglas Mayor’s Youth Council (DMYC) wrapped its year on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at 6 PM at City Hall. Words of encouragement and prayer were offered by Pastor Lawrence Clemmons of Word Harvest International Ministries of Douglas. Former Youth Council members Asia Denning, Jenna Williams, and Caleb Bagley spoke to the group about their college experiences after serving on the Mayor’s Youth Council.

She is a previous Student Council Member and 4-H Club member. She is a member of the Coffee High School Marching Band, where she plays the clarinet. After high school, her goal is to attend the Medical College of Georgia, in August, GA to pursue a Doctor of Medicine degree to become an OB/GYN. She is the daughter of Samantha Oliver and Bernar Henderson and has one sister, Jasmine Oliver. Destiny’s hobbies are playing music, shopping, and traveling.

The Youth Council chose Tabitha Paulk as the Outstanding Community Leader Spotlight for May for her service to the youth and Douglas community. Mrs. Paulk is an educator with the Coffee County Board of Education. She is very active in our community through the Martin Luther King Organization, Juneteenth Celebration Committee, Coffee County Citizens United for Progress, and the Coffee County NAACP.
