Coffee County Schools continues to demonstrate steady academic progress and strong student outcomes across key accountability measures, according to the Georgia College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) reports released for the 2023, 2024, and 2025 school years by the Georgia Department of Education.
Serving approximately 7,500 students across 12 schools, all of which are designated Title I. Coffee County Schools showed consistent strengths in student growth, college and career readiness, and graduation outcomes over the three-year period. District leaders say the results reflect a sustained focus on improvement and accountability.
“These CCRPI results affirm the hard work taking place in our classrooms every day,” said Superintendent Dr. Morris Leis. “When you consider that we serve a high percentage of economically disadvantaged students, as evidenced by all of our schools being designated Title I, the growth we are seeing across progress, readiness, and graduation indicators is something our community should be proud of.”
Coffee High School maintained solid performance across the reporting years, with graduation rates consistently above 90 percent, reaching 95 percent this year, well above the state average of 87.2 percent. Dr. Leis noted that from 2024 to 2025, Coffee High School increased its Content Mastery score by 20 percentage points, despite the school being closed for three weeks due to Hurricane Helene. District leaders added that steady progress and readiness indicators point to improved alignment with state CCRPI expectations.
Wiregrass Regional College and Career Academy stood out as a top performer, posting exceptional student progress scores and maintaining graduation rates in the mid-to-high 90 percent range, including a peak near 98 percent in the most recent report. The school also demonstrated strong college and career readiness, underscoring the effectiveness of its career-focused instructional model.
“Our high schools continue to show what is possible when instruction, innovation, and relevance are aligned,” Leis said. “Their results reflect both strong teaching and strong student engagement.”
At George Washington Carver Freshman Campus, CCRPI data showed improving readiness measures, supporting the district’s emphasis on ninth-grade success as a critical factor in long-term academic outcomes. Coffee Middle School also demonstrated steady student growth, reinforcing the importance of strong middle-grades instruction in preparing students for high school achievement.
Elementary schools across the district showed particularly positive trends in student growth and readiness. Indian Creek Elementary exceeded 88 percent in college and career readiness in the most recent report, while Ambrose Elementary posted readiness scores above 86 percent. Broxton–Mary Hayes Elementary demonstrated strong student progress and significant gains in readiness. Nicholls Elementary and West Green Elementary showed improvement in all CCRPI areas from 2023 to 2025, with closing gaps scores exceeding 90 percent in the most recent year.
Other schools, including Eastside Elementary, maintained readiness scores ranging from 78 to 81 percent over the three-year period, with Satilla Elementary and Westside Elementary also remaining above 70 percent in both progress and readiness.
“These elementary results matter,” Leis said. “They tell us our students are building the foundational skills they need early on, which sets the stage for success in middle school, high school, and beyond.”
District leaders emphasized that CCRPI places a strong focus on growth, readiness, and closing gaps not just raw test scores. They say Coffee County’s results demonstrate that students are making meaningful academic progress year to year and that the district remains focused on continuous improvement.
“Our mission is destination graduation for college, career, and life for every child,” Leis said. “CCRPI measures whether schools are moving students forward, and while we are not completely satisfied with all of our test scores, these results provide our teachers and leaders with a clear roadmap as we continue to deliver an excellent education for every student.”
Looking ahead, Coffee County Schools plans to continue strengthening instructional practices, expanding college and career pathways, and targeting supports to ensure continued improvement across all CCRPI indicators.
