On December 30, 2025, agents with the Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit executed a search warrant and arrested two individuals at a residence located near Trojan Way as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation.
Upon arrival at the property, agents were led on a brief vehicle pursuit that concluded on Highway 441 North. The pursuit caused a short disruption to traffic in the area but was resolved quickly and safely. Inside the vehicle were 35-year-old Joel Dooley of Douglas and 44-year-old Leondra Carmichael Dooley of Douglas. Both individuals were detained without further incident and transported to the Coffee County Jail.
Following the detention, officers with the DCDU, assisted by officers with the Drug Interdiction & Criminal Enforcement Unit, conducted a search of the residence. During the execution of the search warrant, officers discovered approximately 12 ounces of cocaine, 12 pounds of marijuana, and 63 Oxycodone tablets. A number of firearms were also recovered during the investigation.
Joel Dooley was charged with trafficking cocaine, trafficking marijuana, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, and fleeing/attempting to elude law enforcement.
Leondra Carmichael Dooley was charged with the same charges with the exception of fleeing/attempting to elude.
“This is the result of solid work by the DCDU. This unit was implemented specifically to engage in the disruption of the manufacturing, importing, distribution and use of illegal drugs in Coffee County. It will not be tolerated. We will dedicate every resource to this unit’s mission. This is what zero tolerance enforcement looks like. We will continue to target drug activity that threatens the safety of our community,” said Sheriff Fred Cole.
