On June 21, 1976, Rudean Long, RN, began her career at Coffee General Hospital as a graduate nurse while attending South Georgia College in Douglas. Fifty years later, she continues to serve patients, the Coffee Regional team, and the community with the same dedication and passion that marked the beginning of her journey.
Over the past five decades, Rudean has worn many hats and made an impact in countless ways. Her nursing career has included service in medical, surgical, and pediatric care, as well as roles as a preceptor, charge nurse, and house supervisor on both day and night shifts. She earned certification in Medical-Pediatric Nursing and helped guide and mentor generations of nurses throughout her career.
Rudean also helped lead Coffee Regional into a new era of healthcare as the hospital’s first nurse in Nursing Informatics, playing a key role in implementing computer systems and helping nurses navigate the transition to technology in patient care.
Throughout her remarkable career, she has also served in Infection Control, Employee Health, Cardiac Rehabilitation, and several other key areas of the organization. Today, she continues to make a difference in the Case Management Department, where her knowledge, compassion, and commitment remain invaluable to patients and colleagues alike.
Fifty years of service is an extraordinary accomplishment. Rudean’s legacy can be seen not only in the lives she has touched, but also in the countless healthcare professionals she has mentored, supported, and inspired along the way.
Thank you, Rudean, for 50 years of exceptional service, leadership, innovation, and unwavering dedication to Coffee Regional Medical Center and the community. CRMC is grateful for her contributions, her compassion, and the lasting impact she continues to make every day.
