Give an American soldier a chance to talk to loved ones just by bringing your used cell phones to the Liberty Tax Service office at 829A S. Peterson Avenue, Douglas, GA.

Join Liberty Tax Service for the Cell Phones for Soldiers (CPFS) Roadside Party and  Phone Recycling Event. This collection event takes place Saturday, January 24, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.  Liberty Tax will provide food and refreshments, a bounce house, free giveaways and free tax advice. The goal is to fill up the “Libertymobile” box with phones.  All Liberty Tax offices are collection locations for used cell phones to benefit Cell Phones for Soldiers.

Cell Phones for Soldiers makes contact with home a reality for troops who are stationed overseas and face excessive phone calling charges. This dilemma prompted two concerned teenagers to start CPFS with just $21 of their own money. Teenagers Brittany and Robbie Bergquist of Norwell, Massachusetts and their family have enlisted the help of sponsors and phone companies to recycle used cell phones to provide calling cards to soldiers.

As a National Premier Partner for CPFS, Liberty Tax has collected more than 140,000 used cell phones since 2004, totaling about 20 million minutes of calling time for our military. The website www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com has details for those who would like to make cash donations.

“If you have an old phone and are unsure what to do with it, help a soldier call home by dropping it off at a Liberty Tax location. This is a great opportunity to make a huge difference – and an added bonus is that you get to claim it as a tax deduction if you itemize,” said Russ Underwood, owner of Liberty Tax Service in Douglas.
