A 38-year-old Douglas man wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service was detained after a Douglas police officer stopped to assist a disabled vehicle. According to a report from the police department, on January 19 at 4 p.m., a police officer saw a disabled vehicle on Southeast Bowens Mill Road. An adult male, identified as Daniel Laronn Rowe, 38, of Douglas, and two juveniles were in the car. The arrests of three individuals in Coffee County on Wednesday night sparked a little controversy after a friend of one of the offenders posted a video on social media claiming that at least one of the men was being held on an immigration violation but was a citizen. A Douglas man has been indicted on murder charges in Cook County stemming from the 2021 death of Jonathan Taylor McManus, 29, of Wedowee, Alabama, according to a story published in the January 21, 2026, edition of The Adel News-Tribune. A 74-year-old Douglas man was arrested and jailed after he allegedly called 911 multiple times because of problems with family members. The incident happened at 3:20 p.m. on January 8, 2026. A report from the sheriff’s office says that Sergio Sandoval, 74, of Douglas, called 911 numerous times because he did not want a relative on his property.
