Quashaw Marqise Tucker, who was out of jail on bond for drug possession and distribution charges stemming from an October 2022 investigation, has been arrested again, this time on charges related to possession, sale, and trafficking of illegal drugs. A Douglas woman was arrested on charges of falsely reporting a crime after she allegedly called 911 and stated that her two children had been shot. According to a report from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to a call in the Oak Park area in reference to a meet complainant on April 19. When officers arrived, they spoke with Priscilla Deaton, who stated she had received a message about her two kids being shot but she didn’t know the location of the alleged shooting. Carson Brinkley, a fugitive wanted in Jeff Davis County, was arrested in Coffee County last week after he allegedly refused to turn himself into Jeff Davis authorities. Brinkley, of Hazlehurst, had been indicted on charges of interfering with government property, a felony. Citizens had repeatedly called authorities to report him tear up roads, leaving large ruts and holes. When deputies would respond, Brinkley would always be gone. A former president of South Georgia State College has passed away. Dr. Virginia McSwain Carson, age 75, passed on Saturday, April 29, 2023. A celebration of life will be held at Madison Presbyterian Church in Madison, GA on Monday, May 1, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Arch Baker officiating.
