The South Georgia State College Hawks opened the 2023 regular season Saturday afternoon with a 107-64 win over the Reinhardt University (JV) Eagles. Five players scored in double figures for SGSC, led by Kyric Davis (16 points, nine rebounds, and five assists). A 15-year-old juvenile injured a Valdosta police officer and then showed extreme disrespect by eating candy as EMS treated the officer for a serious injury, according to a press release from the Valdosta Police Department. On November 1, agents with the Ben Hill County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit and investigators with the Fitzgerald Police Department served search warrants on the west side of Ben Hill County. Agents arrested several individuals during the execution of these warrants.
