On February 25, 2025, deputies responded to Northside Mobile Home Park on Highway 441 North in response to a burglary that had already taken place. Upon their arrival, deputies spoke with the victim, who reported that Vernon Smith had assaulted her. The victim suspected that Smith had broken into her home and stolen several items. During a verbal altercation, the victim reported that the 63-year-old Smith physically attacked her, prompting a witness to intervene and separate them. The workshop was aimed at KDB officials and code enforcement personnel and led by 423 Law Enforcement Officer Scott Carroll. 423 Law Enforcement is an organization based in Georgia that provides training for law enforcement officers in environmental law enforcement, including issues related to litter and illegal dumping.
