Agents from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and officers from the Jeff Davis County Criminal Investigation Unit have made an arrest in connection to the March 10, 2025, shooting death of Gary Ryals Jr. On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, Ronald Dykes was arrested and charged with voluntary manslaughter in Ryals’s death. Ryals was shot and killed during an altercation that took place on March 10 at the Circle K in Hazlehurst. Dykes and one other individual were detained but later released. This April, Coffee High School junior Lily Kramer will celebrate her 17th birthday, as well as the 10-year anniversary of a heart ablation procedure that changed her life. Lily is launching a campaign to raise funds to support the Emergency Room at Coffee Regional Medical Center, where their quick response changed her life at just seven years old. Early Sunday morning, a chase through Pearson took place involving an individual who was allegedly attempting to smuggle contraband into Ware State Prison. The suspect, identified as Taquez Moore, 44, led officers on a chase that ultimately ended in Tifton. According to a press release from the Pearson Police Department, around 3 a.m. Sunday, Pearson police were notified that an individual was coming into Pearson with contraband bound for Ware State Prison.
