A routine traffic stop conducted on April 17, 2025, by a deputy with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office has led to the recovery of two stolen vehicles, both originally reported stolen out of Houston, Texas. The traffic stop occurred on Highway 149 near Aubrey Paulk Road after a gray Jeep Gladiator was observed operating with a canceled registration. Upon making contact with the driver, the deputy issued a citation and arranged for the vehicle to be towed by a local wrecker service. On the evening of April 13, 2025, the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a physical altercation between John Ashford and Cody Elijah Edge at a residence on Old Waycross Highway. According to statements obtained on scene, both individuals had been drinking throughout the day when a verbal exchange escalated into a physical confrontation. A multiagency operation in Enigma led the arrests of two individuals on drug trafficking charges. Specifically, officers and agents believe the suspects were trafficking fentanyl in South Georgia.
