The City of Douglas and GFL Environmental continue to offer free monthly residential Junk Drop-Off Days to help citizens rid properties of excess trash and large items. Normally, the dates are on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays (excluding holiday weekends) each month at Shirley Avenue (corner of Shirley Ave. and College Park Dr.) from 8:30am-11:45am. A package containing as much as $50,000 worth of methamphetamine was seized in a multi-agency operation in Jeff Davis County last week. According to a press release from the Jeff Davis County Sheriff’s Office, on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at approximately 4:30 p.m., Jeff Davis County drug investigators and deputies along with Appling County investigators, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and Homeland Security initiated a search warrant at a residence in Jeff Davis County following the delivery of a suspicious package.
