Mr. Thomas Willis Loggins, age 70, of Axson, GA passed away Monday, October 2, 2017 at Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, FL following an extended illness. Mr. Loggins, a native of Atlanta, Fulton County, GA was born January 6, 1947 to the late Willis R. Loggins and the late Louise Rainwaters Loggins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 sister, Carolyn “Sissy” Houston and 1 Brother, Benny Loggins. Mr. Loggins was a veteran of the Vietnam War Era. Mr. Franklin Rudolph Ragan, age 84, of Thomasville, GA passed away Friday, September 29, 2017, at his residence, in Thomasville, following an extended illness. He was born July 15, 1933, in Colquitt County, to the late Artie Franklin Ragan and the late Corby Washington Ragan. On December 27, 1959, in McDonough, he married his sweetheart, Juanita Anne Thacker Ragan. Mr. Ragan attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton and Southern Technical Institute in Marietta. He served in the United States Air Force. He worked for Murphy Drugs and delivered pharmaceuticals for many years. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors…
Mr. Jesse Darrell Stinson, age 64, of Douglas, GA passed away Thursday evening, September 28, 2017 at Coffee Regional Medical Center, following a short illness. Mr. Stinson was born in Orlando, FL on November 18, 1952 to the late Dewey Stinson and the late Mattie Weathersby Stinson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Darlene Stinson. Mr. Stinson was retired from Walmart where he had been employed as a truck driver. He enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren and he loved his church family very much. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.…
Wiregrass Georgia Technical College held the Spring and Summer 2017 Commencement Exercises on Thursday, July 13 at the UGA Conference Center in Tifton, GA. The ceremony honored 217 students who were awarded their associate degree, diploma or technical certificate of credit as well as 30 GED® graduates. Among those graduating, the college awarded 141 Associate Degrees, 286 Diplomas, and 771 Technical Certificates. Some students received Technical Certificates in multiple areas. The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit enjoyed hosting multiple state agencies last week for several days of intensive training. Our K-9 unit works closely with local schools, businesses, and private individuals in promoting and providing safe and drug-free work and learning environments, along with regular neighborhood and street patrols. We regularly accept private and public donations in an effort to increase our availability of services and better serve the Coffee County community. On September 1, 2017 Reedy Branch Baptist Church sent a team to work with the non-profit relief organization known as Operation Barbecue Relief (OBR). The church also delivered and presented a gift of a loaded 24-foot enclosed trailer from South Georgia Caro over in Pearson as it will be used for years to come to help house volunteers as they come to help in future deployments. The South Georgia State College (SGSC) Police Department recently completed a week-long training on several new laws, processes and procedures to further enhance campus safety. At SGSC, police officers are responsible for not only enforcing federal, state and local laws but they also must adhere to federal reporting requirements for campus based crime activity. Special sessions were held concerning searches and seizures as well as a refresher class on criminal law and procedure.
