Mr. Willie B. “Boe” Peacock, age 93 of Douglas, passed away Friday afternoon, February 17, 2017 at Shady Acres Health and Rehabilitation following an extended illness. Funeral services will be Sunday, February 19, 2017, at 2:00 P.M. at Chatterton Grove Holiness Baptist Church with the interment to follow in Chatterton Cemetery. The Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting today for Warrior Works Emporium & Eatery located at 121 East Ashley Street in Douglas(next door to Martin Centre). Owner owner and chef Mark Corradino is a retired veteran who always had a dream of opening a restaurant. CLOVERLEAF 4-H DANCE Our staff would like to thank the volunteer and teen leaders who helped chaperon the Cloverleaf 4-H Dance on February 16. Your help was greatly appreciated. West Green Elementary School recently celebrated School Bus Driver Appreciation Week. The faculty, staff, and students showed their love and appreciation for the bus drivers by presenting each with a basket full of goodies, including a card signed by all the students who ride the bus. The South Georgia State College Hawks baseball team split a double-header against Thomas University JV in Thomasville winning game one 12 – 1 and losing game two 2 – 1. The Hawks dominated the opener by collecting eleven hits and twelve runs. The biggest inning for SGSC was thanks to a single by Chase Hinson, a double by Jacob Schmidt, and a triple by KC Brown.
