In response to Hurricane Hermine’s anticipated landfall and current tracking of the storm, City of Douglas officials urge all citizens to act early and to prepare for the possibility of 8-12 inches of rain, winds in excess of 60+ miles per hour, possible tornado activity, heavy rainfall & flooding in low areas, and electrical outages. Steve Harrell was the speaker at the Douglas Kiwanis Club meeting Tuesday, Aug. 23, at the Flyin’ Cowboy restaurant. Mr. Harrell spoke to the club about catching catfish, the various sizes of fish he has caught, and the many methods of catching them. He has been spotlighted on Georgia Outdoors on PBS stations. The Douglas Utilities Department will begin offering new utility programs for Douglas utility customers who are ages 65 and older on October 3, 2016. The two programs are a monthly $10 senior discount and the Weatherization Grant-Loan Program. The Senior Discount Program is available for active account holders ages 65 & older. Beginning October 3, these seniors will be eligible to receive a $10 monthly credit to their Douglas utility account.
