Two suspects were arrested and jail in connection with a series of burglaries that took place in the Oak Park community at the end of January.
According to a report from the sheriff’s office, the first burglary was reported at 476 Mahogany Road on January 27, 2026. Three vacant mobile homes had been broken into and several items were missing from the homes, including washers, dryers, hot water heaters, a refrigerator, and a stove. The air conditioners had been tampered with and pipes had been damaged as well.
Two days later, another burglary was reported, this one at 746 Mahogany Road. Missing were a flat screen TV, Nike shoes, 12 toilet paper rolls, body wash, Gain plug-in refills, canned goods, a Bluetooth speaker, and a laptop computer.
Investigators discovered that an individual identified as Kendrick Demond Lee Thomas, 35, of Douglas, had allegedly taken several of the appliances to Jewell’s Recycling in the days following the burglary. Officers also learned that Xander James Offenburger, 20, of Alma, had participated in the burglary, according to the report.
On January 27, 2026, Offenburger was arrested on three counts of burglary in the 1st degree. On January 31, 2026, Thomas was arrested and also charged with three counts of burglary in the 1st degree. Both were booked into the Coffee County Jail and released.
