Douglas was once again named as one of the top micropolitan cities in the U.S. for new and expanding industrial facilities for by Site Selection magazine, the official publication of the Global FDI Association and the Industrial Asset Management Council.
Out of the 575 communities, Douglas ranked number 10 on the list, up from 29 in 2015.

The magazine ranked 575 of the nation’s micropolitan areas, cities of 10,000 to 50,000 people which cover at least one county. Of nearly 500 projects in the Top 100 micropolitan areas, 65 percent were expansions of existing sites.
In addition, the State of Georgia claimed the number 2 spot on the top 10 list for most micropolitans.

“Douglas-Coffee County is proud to be ranked as one of the top micropolitan communities in the United States, and to have contributed to Georgia’s achievement,” said Andrea Taylor, Executive Director of the Douglas-Coffee County Economic Development Authority.  “We are blessed with leaders that work together for the common good of our community and we have a strong workforce and a diverse industry base that all equally add to our success.”

Typically, micropolitan cities are centers of population and production, drawing workers and shoppers from a wide local area. In 2016, Coffee County’s population was 44,250 and the community is known as a regional center of employment, healthcare, shopping and entertainment.

The Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Authority is dedicated to the economic prosperity of Douglas-Coffee County.
