Mr. Tommy Browning, Jr., age 71 of Pearson, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas following an extended illness.

Tommy was born in Reidsville on February l7, l948, son of the late Tommie, Sr. and Wilma Corbitt Browning. He had made his home in Atkinson County for most of his life and in his spare time, enjoyed fishing and reading. He served as the Cub Scout Leader for Pack 806 for many years and was a member of the Ashley D. Morris American Legion Post 173 in Pearson. He was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. His church membership was The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Pearson Ward.

Survivos include his wife Peggy Sue Davis Browning of Pearson; daughter Cassandra Henry and husband, Michael of Axson; sister Elizabeth “Libby” Batten and husband, Lonnie of Douglas; grandchildren Gracie and Kaleb Adam; niece Jessica Gregory and husband, Jack of Douglas; nephew Kevin Batten of Douglas; and several great-nephews, nieces and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Browning were held Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Pearson with Bishop Clee Sirmans, Elder Lester Cribbs and Elder Steve Sirmans officiating. The interment followed in Little Utah Cemetery with military honors rendered by a U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard from the U.S. Marine Base in Albany.

Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson was in charge of the arrangements.
