Mrs. Mary Margaret Delk Summerlin, age 94 years old, of Axson, Ga. passed away, Thursday, December 15, 2022, at her home, following an extended illness.  

 

 

She was born in Atkinson County on November 28, 1928, daughter of Seaborn Lewis and Vera White Delk.  Mrs. Summerlin made her home in Axson, as a homemaker where she along with her husband, W.R., took great pride in caring and providing for their family.  She was of the Primitive Baptist faith and attended Refuge Primitive Baptist Church.  

 

 

Mrs. Summerlin was also a member of the Red Hat Society for several years.  She enjoyed many things in her life like working in her flowers, quilting, making jewelry and going fishing, but her most treasured moments were always spent with family.  Mrs. Summerlin was preceded in death, along with her parents, by her husband, Willie Reason “W.R.” Summerlin, 1 infant son, 3 infant daughters, and a brother, James Franklin Delk.

 

 

Survivors include:  

 

 

 

Son:  Richard R. Summerlin and wife, Julie of Beaverton, Oregon

 

 

3 Grandchildren:  Donald Summerlin of Portland, Oregon

Austin Summerlin and wife, Natalie of Portland, Oregon

Charity Summerlin and husband, Rocky Clark of Salem, Oregon

 

 

6 Great-Grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, along with many other relatives also survive.

 

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Summerlin were held, Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Relihan Funeral Home Chapel in Pearson, Ga. with Rev. Edward Mathews officiating.  Special musical selections included, “Amazing Grace”, “Land of Rest”, and “Old Rugged Cross” all rendered by c.d.  The interment followed in Sweetwater Cemetery in Pearson, Ga.

 

 

Serving as active pallbearers were:  Donald Summerlin, Rocky Clark, Robby Thurston, Andy Royals, Anthony Fuller, Tyrone Mullis, and Nancy Corbitt.

 

 

Relihan Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
