Mrs. Judy Ann Zimmerman, age 71 years old, of Pearson, Ga. passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023, in Kingsland, Ga. following a brief illness.

She was born in Kirkland on June 9, 1951, daughter of Joseph Smith, Sr., and Cleo Griffis Royals.  Judy made her home in the Atkinson County area, where she, along with her husband, Richard, raised their family.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed many things in her life like singing, being outdoors and especially spending time, and making memories with her friends and family.  Judy always brought a spirit of love and kindness wherever she went.  Always thinking of others, she loved to give gifts to those around her, “just because.”

Judy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was preceded in death, along with her parents, by her husband, Richard Zimmerman, brother, Alfred Royals, and two sisters: Joanne Royals and Alvina Royals.  Though Judy is not here with us physically, her spirit of charity, and her testimony of the gospel and love of her Savior, will continue to shine and grow in the hearts of all those who knew her.

Survivors include:

Son:  Bernard Zimmerman of Axson, Ga.

2 Daughters:  Shelley Moore and husband Kevin of Kingsland, Ga.

Cristy Cornett and husband Joseph of Waycross, Ga.

2 Brothers:  Aaron Royals and wife Irma of Axson, Ga.

Joseph Royals, Jr. and wife Gail of Pearson, Ga.

3 Sisters:  Annie Mae Cribb of Waycross, Ga.

Jennell Thomas of Pearson, Ga.

Joyce Mullis of Pearson, Ga.

12 Grandchildren, 9 Great-Grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Zimmerman were held Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Pearson, Ga. with Bro. David White, and Bro. Conard Johnson officiating. The eulogy was presented by her grandson, Kaylon Clement.

Special musical selections included, “Love at Home” rendered by soloist and pianist, Sis. Christy Markette, “Families Can be Together Forever” and “God Be with You till We Meet Again” both rendered by the congregation accompanied by Sis. Linda Hood at the piano and chorister, Sis. Tonya Cecil. Soft music for the Prelude and Postlude was provided by Sis. Linda Hood, pianist.  The interment followed in Utah Cemetery with dedication of the grave given by Bishop Marcus Corbitt.

Serving as active pallbearers were:  Kaylon Clement, Manning Smith, Dallen Bennett, Austin Bennett, Dylan Keene, and Kevin Moore, Jr.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were:  Mark Royals, Adam Royals, Andy Royals, David Royals, Ethan Royals, Hayden Clement, and Justin Morgan.

Relihan Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt, “Thank you” to all those who have reached out in so many different ways and given support & prayers during this time.  Your words of comfort and expressions of kindness are greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten.                                          – The Judy Royals Zimmerman Family
