Tyreek Hill’s bid for the history books hit a bump in the proverbial road Monday night in the Miami Dolphins’ 28-27 loss to the Tennessee Titans. In spite of the hiccup, the All Pro wide receiver is still on pace to break 2,000 receiving yards for the season.

Hill, who has the most receiving yards of any player through 13 games (1,542), caught four passes for 61 yards Monday night against the Titans. He suffered an injury late in the first quarter and though he returned, the bad ankle limited his effectiveness for the remainder of the game. According to ESPN, Hill hurt his ankle while being tackled out of bounds. He sat out the second quarter before returning in the third. However, he played just 34 of Miami’s 72 snaps on the night.

The Dolphins face the New York Jets Sunday in Miami. The Dolphins have him listed as day-to-day; as such, it’s too early to tell exactly what he will be able to do this weekend.

Another injury that may factor into Hill’s run at the record is what happened to center Connor Williams Monday night. On the Dolphins’ first offensive possession, Williams tore his ACL and left the field for the remainder of the season. Williams has been a reliable and effective lineman this season and his loss is a major blow to the line. Third-year pro Liam Eichenberg will step in for Williams; however, his presence at center likely causes even more shake-ups along Miami’s offensive line. How well the line responds to these latest developments will go a long way in determining how the Dolphins’ offense in general, and Hill in particular, finish down the stretch.

An injury was the only thing that could derail Hill’s quest for 2,000 yards. Even though he’s ailing, he’s got to get back on the field as quickly as possible. And Miami’s new-look offensive line has to give quarterback Tua Tagovailoa the protection he needs to effectively run the offense.

The positives are that Hill is still on pace to break 2,000 yards and the Dolphins are still leading the division. Still, it could be a long last month of the season. Hill has been remarkably resilient in his career. Hopefully, the magic is still there and he won’t be sidelined at all.
