A multiagency operation in Enigma led the arrests of two individuals on drug trafficking charges. Specifically, officers and agents believe the suspects were trafficking fentanyl in South Georgia.

On April 10, 2025, agents with the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office conducted a joint undercover operation inside Berrien County with the assistance with law enforcement partners from the United States Postal Service Federal Inspectors Office, Ben Hill County Sheriff’s Office, and the Nashville Police Department. The operation consisted of serving a valid search warrant at a residence located in Enigma known for receiving and distributing dangerous illegal narcotics.

During the operation agents arrested two individuals, one at the residence and the other at the United States Post Office located in Enigma. Both individuals are believed to be involved in the operation of trafficking fentanyl, a dangerous and deadly narcotic.

During the operation, agents recovered approximately one kilo of suspected fentanyl in tablet form. Also recovered was an amount of powder fentanyl, suspected marijuana, and drug paraphernalia, as well as a firearm.

Agents with the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office and the Ben Hill County Sheriff’s Office are determined to rid their own and surrounding communities of any illegal and dangerous narcotics such as these.

Fentanyl is a man-made opioid approved by the FDA for use as a pain reliever. Fentanyl is 100 times stronger than morphine and approximately 50 times stronger than heroin and kills more than three times as many people as cocaine.
