State Representative Angie O’Steen (R–Ambrose) has announced that she has formally qualified to seek re-election to the Georgia General Assembly representing District 169.
“Rural Georgia deserves strong, steady representation that understands our industries, our families, and our core values,” O’Steen said. “From protecting agriculture and timber producers to strengthening rural healthcare and honoring our veterans, I’m committed to making sure our community’s voice is heard under the Gold Dome. It’s been the honor of my life to serve everyone in House District 169.”
This session, O’Steen sponsored and carried Senate Bill 59 (a House Substitute) on the House floor last Thursday, which adds $50 million of Timber Reforestation Tax Credits to the $200 million included in HB 223 (authored by Representative James Burchett) from the 2025 session. O’Steen said, “We knew the timber damage from Hurricane Helene was significant, but quickly realized we underestimated the need. I could not sit back and watch my area suffer from generational losses as they clean up destroyed timberland and incur rising replant costs without working to bridge the gap to support our community and the vital forestry industry.” Her efforts last year and this year offer critical relief to an industry that drives much of the local economy. She also authored House Bill 662, expanding access to care in rural communities served by freestanding emergency rooms, and House Bill 1191, which recognizes the service and sacrifice of veterans by expanding eligibility for military medal recognition on license plates.
“I love serving my neighbors,” O’Steen said. “This is a hardworking district, and I’m proud to advocate for its needs at the state level. Through challenges and opportunity, I’ll be right there working to protect our jobs, our families, and our future.”
As a freshman legislator last Fall, Representative O’Steen was appointed to serve on two House Study Committees by Speaker Jon Burns. Both Study Committees examined the challenges in healthcare across the state. She also serves on the House Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, House Public and Community Health, and House Rural Development Committees, where she continues to focus on protecting agricultural, rural jobs, expanding healthcare access, and strengthening House District 169.
