Atkinson County running back Darrian Roberts is going to be a Reinhardt University Eagle. Thursday morning, Roberts signed a scholarship to continue his football career with Reinhardt next year.
When people think of high school football powerhouses in Georgia, Atkinson County isn’t going to come to mind. But while other schools and players were making all the headlines, Roberts was quietly putting together an elite-caliber career in Pearson. Over the last two years, he has been one of the best running backs in the state, steamrolling over opponents and leading the Rebels to a combined 16-3 record.
During that time, Roberts rushed for 3,368 yards on 273 carries and 60 touchdowns, averaging over 177 yards per game and over 12 yards per carry.
A two-way player, Roberts also recorded 47 total tackles, five tackles for loss, three interceptions (two returned for touchdowns), two fumble recoveries (one taken in for a score), and one pass defensed during his senior season.
Reinhardt is getting a great student and a leader on and off the field. Congratulations and good luck.
