The CCA Patriots won their 18th and 19th games this season when they swept a doubleheader against the Covenant Academy Rams in Macon on Saturday. The Patriots needed just 10 total innings to dispatch the Rams, winning game one 17-4 and game two 12-2. The two teams played at historic Luther Williams Field in Macon. In game one, CCA scored in every inning and were up 11-0 before the Rams ever got on the board. They scored four in the bottom of the fifth. Back in the fall, the SGSC Hawks had a formidable pitching staff in place. The Hawks had an impressive fall campaign and looked poised to make a run at the GCAA championship when the spring season rolled around. Then came the injuries. If the Lowndes High Vikings have a four-run lead late in the game, the odds are pretty good they’re going to win. The Vikings have a comfortable lead in the Region 1-6A rankings and, as of Monday, were the #2-ranked 6A team in the state. But someone forgot to tell the Coffee Trojans. Hunter Klesko homered, drove in four, and scored three times while Conley McDaniel also homered, drove in three, and scored twice in the Coffee Trojans’ 16-5 win over the Crisp County Cougars Monday in Cordele. When the CCA Patriots scored their first run of the game Monday against the Vidalia Heritage Academy Eagles at Patriot Field in Douglas, it looked like the beginning of another dominating performance by the Patriots.
