The Coffee Trojans were running out of time on Wednesday night. After taking a 6-3 lead in the first inning against the Fitzgerald Purple Hurricanes, the ‘Canes battled back with two in the third and two in the fifth while keeping the Trojans off the board. Coffee was trailing 7-6 entering the bottom of the seventh. Nothing would have made Fitzgerald happier than to cross the county line and take one from the Trojans. Gavin McElroy and the others in the middle of Coffee’s line-up had different plans. In the seventh, McElroy welcomed a new Fitzgerald pitcher with a game-tying…

The freshmen-laden 2025-2026 Coffee Trojans had a great season. They ended a four-year playoff drought, made a strong run at a region title, and hosted a postseason game at home. The future is bright for the Coffee men’s program. Which is why it’s so heartbreaking that their season ended the way it did. For all the successes, for all the big moments, for all the incredible plays, it’s not fair for the year to end with two oh-so-close games. After dropping the region title game in overtime to a loaded Houston County team, the Trojans still had an all-important first…

Eight seems to be the magic number when the Coffee Trojans play the Camden County Wildcats. Last week in Douglas, the Trojans defeated the Wildcats by eight in the home opener. It was another eight-run margin of victory Tuesday night in St. Marys. Coffee defeated Camden 10-2 thanks to three doubles and a triple from Eli Wood, a two-RBI and three-run performance from Hunter Klesko, and a solid four-inning outing from starter Carter McMillan. Camden kept Coffee off the scoreboard in the first inning. That would be the only inning in which the Trojans wouldn’t score. Coffee plated two in…

SGSC defeated Battle Creek, Michigan’s Kellogg Community College Bruins 3-1 in game one then bested the Florida State College-Jacksonville Manta Rays 6-2. Brown homered twice – a two-run shot in the first inning and a solo homer in the fifth. In the first, Danny Vigille-grant (freshman, Tallulah Falls) singled with one out. Brown connected on the first pitch he saw and drove…

Last Wednesday, the Coffee Trojans topped the Glynn Academy Red Terrors in two of the three statistical categories on the box score. The Terrors, however, bested the Trojans in the only one that counts – the scoring column. Coffee outhit Glynn Academy 7-6. The Red Terrors made three errors to Coffee’s zero. But Glynn came away with a 5-2 win thanks in large part to a four-run third inning in which the Red Terrors scored all four runs with two outs. Glynn used a hit by pitch, a single, and three doubles to take a 4-0 lead. The Trojans scored…
