A 26-year-old Douglas woman was arrested and later released after she allegedly had a gun in her hand during an altercation of some kind the father of her child and another individual. According to a report from the Douglas Police Department, shortly after midnight on February 10, 2025, officers responded to a call of a subject with a weapon. The complainant stated that Ebonye Adams, 26, had pulled a gun out during an argument. NBCUniversal has settled a lawsuit with local OB/GYN Dr. Mahendra Amin after personalities on MSNBC make “verifiably false” statements accusing Dr. Amin of performing unnecessary hysterectomies at the Irwin County Detention Center in Ocilla. The accusations were levied against Dr. Amin in 2020. The ICDC was an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Ocilla. In September of 2020, a report from a whistleblower surfaced alleging that Dr. Amin performed unnecessary hysterectomies on women who were detained at the detention center. There were other allegations made regarding inadequate COVID-19 protocols and care; however, the hysterectomies are what propelled the story into…

After defeating the Winder-Barrow Lady Bulldogs by 62 in the first round of the state playoffs Tuesday, the Lady Trojans ran into a buzzsaw in the form of the New Manchester Lady Jaguars. A little over 18 months after buying approximately 400 Winn-Dixie and Harveys grocery stores (and 170 Winn-Dixie liquor stores), ALDI is selling 170 Winn-Dixie and Harveys stores to a private consortium comprised of C&S Wholesale Grocers and Southeastern Grocers. The purchase includes stores five different states, including Georgia and Florida. According to foodinstitute.com, the purchasers took over the “day-to-day operations immediately.” The deal was announced last week. After struggling over the first few games of the season, the South Georgia State College Hawks have rattled off three wins in a row going back to last Friday, February 14, 2025. On Valentine’s Day, the Hawks split two games – one with Florida State College-Jacksonville (a 2-1 loss) and Central Alabama Community College (a 2-0). Both games were played in Jacksonville. The Coffee Trojans dropped to 2-3 on the young season Tuesday after a 7-5 loss to the Glyn Academy Red Terrors in Brunswick. Freshman second baseman Jimmy Timothy continued to swing a hot bat; he paced the Trojans offensively with 3-4, two-RBI performance at the plate. He also scored three runs. Officers from the Douglas Police Department and Coffee County Sheriff’s Office didn’t show Jerome Taft, 65, of Douglas, much love on the morning of Valentine’s Day when Taft called 911 to erroneously report that his truck had been stolen the night before. On the morning of February 14, 2025, Taft reported that his vehicle had been stolen from Super 8 Motel in Douglas. Shortly before a member of the Douglas Police Department made contact with him, someone at the sheriff’s office recognized Taft’s name as that of a registered sex offender. A 37-year-old Douglas man remains in jail after he allegedly took his mother’s vehicle after the two argued over money, according to an incident report from the sheriff’s office. The report states that around 6:30 p.m. on February 2, 2025, officers responded to a Rabbit Run address in response to a vehicle theft. The complainant stated that Zeke William Buttz, 37, of Douglas, had taken her maroon 2018 Ford Flex from the residence. The two had argued over money, the report says, and Buttz took the vehicle and her purse after the complainant said she wasn’t giving him any money.…
