Deputies charged a 30-year-old with battery, terroristic threats and acts, and other charges after he allegedly beat a family member and threatened to shoot him with a shotgun. The GBI has arrested and charged Willie James Jr., age 58, of Wayne County, Ga., with malice murder, felony murder, and aggravated assault in connection to the death of Sandra Robinson that occurred almost 16 years ago. On March 17, 2010, the GBI Regional Investigative Office in Douglas was requested by the Douglas Police Department to assist with a death investigation at the Prepaid Superstore on South Madison Avenue in Douglas. A 54-year-old Douglas man remains in jail after a deputy found him passed out in his vehicle with a suspected meth pipe in his hand. According to a report from the sheriff’s office, on February 22, 2026, a deputy was at the Deep South fuel depot on Bowens Mill Road when two individuals approached him and reported that there was a man in a pickup at the Woody Folsom lot who was either passed out or dead. The Coffee Trojans finished the non-region schedule with a pair of wins near the Georgia coast this weekend, winning games against Savannah Christian (2-0) and Richmond Hill (5-3). The CCA men’s and women’s basketball teams did something this year they haven’t done in 30 years – both teams played for state championships. The two teams traveled to Columbus State to face Memorial Day (women) and First Preparatory Christian Academy (Men) on Friday afternoon. The basketball fates weren’t kind to CCA – both squads came home as runners-up. The women fell 51-38 while the men lost 76-49, thanks in large part to a 54-point second half from FPCA. Thirty years ago, both the CCA Lady Patriots and the CCA Patriots played for their respective state championships. It was the first time that had happened – and it was the last time. Until this year. Tuesday morning, former Valdosta Wildcat, Georgia Bulldog, and New England Patriot Malcolm Mitchell visited Coffee High School for a reading rally with students from throughout the school system.
