A Douglas man faces charges of drug distribution after authorities allegedly discovered a quantity of methamphetamine during a routine traffic stop Wednesday. Officials with the Douglas –Coffee Drug Unit assisted Georgia State Troopers, who initiated a traffic stop on Carl Leslie Chaney in the area of Ramblewood Rd. for failure to maintain lane and driving without a seatbelt. Following a brief investigation, Chaney was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and marijuana and was subsequently charged wtih with intent to distribute methamphetamine (12.4 grams) and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. A Douglas man wanted on two outstanding warrants was jailed on multiple charges Sunday following a traffic stop that also yielded a quantity of methamphetamine. A Coffee County Sheriff’s Office deputy was assisted by the Douglas –Coffee Drug Unit on a traffic stop of a dirt bike that occurred on Ramblewood Road in the Green Acres community. The driver, identified as Adam Jerrell Morris, was stopped for no helmet, no tag light, registration requirements, and open container. Authorities stated Morris was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and gave deputies a false name because he had two outstanding warrants…
A Douglas woman was jailed recently for alleged methamphetamine distribution after neighbors alerted officials of suspected drug activity. The Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit and Georgia State Probation Officers conducted a search at 631 Taylor Circle on March 18. During the investigation, authorities discovered six packages of methamphetamine located in a bedroom, along with several digital scales. The approximate weight of the methamphetamine was 3.3 grams. An Alma man was jailed Wednesday after allegedly running over a woman in a power wheelchair with his vehicle and fleeing the scene. Alma Police responded to a hit and run accident Wednesday afternoon involving a female victim in a powered wheelchair. The victim had been struck by a car traveling south on S. Wayne St. near the intersection of E. 20th St. She was ejected several feet from her chair and had sustained visible head injuries. Coffee County firefighters worked through the night late Tuesday dousing a large fire that occurred several miles south of Douglas. Authorities responded to warehouse fire on the Old Pearson Hwy. just off the Willacoochee Hwy. around 8:50 p.m. The back side of the building was ablaze, along with wooden pallets and tractor-trailers. The Coffee County Sheriff’s office, along with officers from the state probation and parole office, recently arrested three individuals on methamphetamine and other drug charges while conducting residential searches. Sheriff’s officials reported Tuesday a search was conducted on March 2 at 117 Seymour Ave. in Douglas. During the search, Stephanie Denee Hester Stone was found to be in possession of 9.9 grams of methamphetamine and 1.2 grams of marijuana. Stone also had $464.00 cash in her possession, which authorities say she claimed to have made selling drugs. A 24-year-old Coffee County woman was hospitalized Sunday following a brutal incident in Alma. Alma police responded early Sunday morning to a call involving a woman who was found nude and bound by a bicycle tire inner tube and duct tape. Officers discovered she had been severely burned with an iron and beaten with several other items, and authorities are attempting to determine the possibility of rape. Two people wanted in connection to shooting that occurred Thursday night in Alma are behind bars today. The Alma Police Department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested John Lamont Wilson (21) of Blackshear on three counts of aggravated assault in connection with the incident. Another man, Davante Marquise Lejeune, has also been charged with three counts of aggravated assault. Lejeune voluntarily surrendered to authorities in Pierce County Friday evening. Authorities say additional arrests are possible pending further investigation.
