The Coffee Lady Trojans’ 2025-2026 season ended Friday afternoon at the Georgia State University gym with a Final Four loss to the Milton Lady Eagles. Milton won 59-48. Milton’s defense proved a little too suffocating for Coffee. The Lady Trojans had trouble with the Lady Eagles’ zone and never could find their footing offensively. The Coffee Trojans finished the first week of region play with a 2-1 mark after splitting a doubleheader with the Lee County Trojans Friday night at Charles Wilson Field in Douglas. Coffee won game one 5-4 in eight innings but couldn’t keep up with Lee in game two, falling 10-3. When people think of CCA’s Blake Bryant, his pitching is what typically comes to mind first. Friday night, however, it was his bat that did the damage. The Patriots traveled to St. Simons to face the Frederica Academy Knights in a battle between defending state champions (CCA, Class A; Frederica, Class 3A). Qualifying for the 2026 election cycle has ended. A few incumbents are running unopposed, a few others have opposition, one incumbent decided not to run, and one race didn’t have anyone qualify at all. Two county commission races are on the ballot – Districts 1 and 3. Neither incumbent in those elections, George McIver (District 1) and AJ Dovers (District 3), have any opposition. The Board of Education elections are a different story. There will be at least one new BOE member and the other two on the ballot will have opposition. It was a history-making week for the CCA Patriots. For the first time ever, the Patriots played under the lights in their home stadium. It didn’t hurt that they came away with wins over Trinity Christian (7-0) and Frederica Academy (2-1) in front of a big home crowd (with a few interested scouts in the stands, especially for the Frederica game, that boosted attendance). Officers arrested a 27-year-old on robbery charges after he allegedly stole a friend’s cell phone because the friend didn’t buy him a bag of weed, according to a report from the Douglas Police Department. The report says that on February 10, 2026, at around 8:25 p.m., a Douglas police officer responded to a Wynn Avenue address in reference to a robbery. When the officer arrived, the complainant stated that an individual identified as Cameron Terrell Alls, 27, of Douglas, accused the complainant of not buying him some weed after Alls gave him $10 for that purpose. Deputies charged a 30-year-old with battery, terroristic threats and acts, and other charges after he allegedly beat a family member and threatened to shoot him with a shotgun. According to a report from the sheriff’s office, deputies received a domestic dispute call on February 20, 2026, at around 8:45 a.m. The incident had taken place on Burl Mill Road. The GBI has arrested and charged Willie James Jr., age 58, of Wayne County, Ga., with malice murder, felony murder, and aggravated assault in connection to the death of Sandra Robinson that occurred almost 16 years ago. On March 17, 2010, the GBI Regional Investigative Office in Douglas was requested by the Douglas Police Department to assist with a death investigation at the Prepaid Superstore on South Madison Avenue in Douglas.
